Prayer
Heavenly Father,
As we journey through this second week of Lent, open our hearts to Your mercy and grace. Strengthen us in faith, guide us in love, and help us to walk in humility. May our fasting draw us closer to You, our prayers deepen our trust, and our giving reflect Your love.
Lead us ever closer to the joy of Easter, through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Feast of St Patrick
We celebrate St Partick's Day to commemorate Saint Patrick and the arrival of Christianity in Ireland, and, by extension, celebrate the heritage and culture of the Irish in general. We honour the patron saint of Ireland, Saint Patrick, who was born in the fifth century. He's credited with converting the Irish to Christianity, establishing several churches and carrying the legend of using a shamrock to explain the Trinity Celebrations generally involve public parades and festivals, céilithe, and the wearing of green attire or shamrocks.
The Children looked fantastic in all their green on Monday, 17th of March. We celebrated with a feast of teats deliciously made by all the teachers. All funds raised will go toward the Project Compassion Campaign.
Céilithe - A traditional Scottish and Irish social gathering. In its most basic form, it simply means a social visit. In contemporary usage, it usually involves dancing and playing Gaelic folk music, either at home or a larger concert at a social hall or other community gathering place.

Feast of St Joseph
Saint Joseph's Day, also called the Feast of Saint Joseph or the Solemnity of Saint Joseph is a day dedicated to Joseph, husband of the Virgin Mary and stepfather of Jesus Christ, celebrated on 19 March.
This year St Columba's was proud to host the Feast of St Joseph. With so many guests coming to visit our beautiful school we set to prepare. We travelled to the Yeoval Community Hall to celebrate Mass with all our friends from St Joseph's Molong, St Joseph's Manildra and St Joseph's Eugowra as we needed more room, with over 240 Students and Teachers attending and community our beautiful church was not going to be sufficient. We returned to school where students broke into smaller groups to participate in various activities such as Crafts, Sports, Nature Dancing and Cooking planned and put together by all of the amazing teachers and the CEBD RE team.
For our Feast we had a massive sausage sizzle with poppers and zooper doopers for all. Thank you to all the parents for coming in and cooking up a storm it was a tremendous effort Thank you.

Schools in partnership with parents are responsible for promoting the regular attendance of students.
While parents are legally responsible for the regular attendance of their children, schools monitor regular attendance daily, including part and whole-day absences, as a consequence of their duty of care and legislative requirements.
If your child is sick, parents or carers are required to explain the absences of their children from school promptly. An explanation for absence must be provided to the school within 7 calendar days of the first day of any period of absence. When a school becomes concerned about a student's attendance, staff must address the student's learning and support needs with their parents or carers. Above a 90% attendance rate is legally required at all times.
Please contact the school if you have any concerns about your child's absences, we are here to work with you and support your child to achieve the best possible outcome.

St Columba's Cross Country
Cross-country running is a sport that pushes your limits and rewards resilience. Unlike track running, it takes place on natural, often challenging terrain, including hills, grass, and even mud, making it a fantastic way to build strength, endurance, and a love for the outdoors. Whether you're a seasoned runner or just starting out, cross-country offers a unique and enjoyable way to challenge yourself and experience the beauty of nature while pushing your physical and mental boundaries
We have planned for our School Cross Country event to take place on Friday, 4th April 2025.
More information will be sent home in the coming weeks.
So get your running shoes on and start training.
