Prayer - Catholic Schools Week

Loving God, we thank you for our Catholic school communities and our school. We pray that we may ‘experience the spirit of community’ together, as we accompany each other in our learning this year. May the Holy Spirit guide us and give us new eyes, new ears and open hearts, helping us to bring your love to all we encounter. Mary, mother of the living gospel, pray for us. We ask this prayer through Jesus, our Lord and teacher, Amen.

Catholic Schools Week - 12-18 May 2025

Catholic Schools Week is a time to celebrate the incredible value our schools bring to students, families, and the wider community. It’s a moment to reflect on our rich history and embrace the exciting journey ahead - a time for connection and celebration.

The combined theme for this year’s celebration embodies who we are and what you can expect from a Catholic school - Guided by Faith, Inspired by Hope, and Committed to Learning.

St Columba's Catholic Primary School, Yeoval will celebrate with a Liturgy at Our Lady Catholic Church, Yeoval. Following our school assembly, the school will host Open Classrooms.
This is a fantastic opportunity for the children to share their work and achievements with their family.

As our Parent Teacher Interviews will take place earlier this week,
the Open Classrooms will complement these interviews.
During the Open Classrooms, there will be no formal teaching.
Instead, the children will have opportunities to show their families their work that they are
very proud of. This may be work in their books, artworks and/or work in the classroom.

Sacraments - 2025

Coordinating Student Sacraments with the Parish!

We are working closely with our parish to support students and families in preparing for and receiving the Sacraments of Reconciliation (Year 2), First Holy Communion (Year 3), and Confirmation (Year 6). These milestones in the Catholic faith are a special and sacred part of your child’s spiritual journey, and we are committed to helping families through every step of the preparation process.

Bishop Michael McKenna will preside over the Sacrament of Confirmation in Yeoval at the Our Lady Catholic Church at 10:00am on Sunday, 26th October.

If you would like your child to receive any of these Sacraments this year, we kindly ask that you reach out to the school office. This will help us coordinate with the parish to ensure that all students are fully prepared and that the celebrations are meaningful and memorable.

Please contact the school at your earliest convenience if you are interested in your child taking part in any of these Sacraments.

We look forward to walking this journey of faith with you and your family.

Christian Living Camp

The Year 6 students joined with fellow students from Eugowra, Canowindra, Manildra and Molong for the Christian Living Camp at the Christian Education Centre, Ridgecrest.

The retreat was facilitated by Mr Chris Doyle, presenting the theme “God is Love”. Through stories, music and humour, Chris taught the students the importance of life, love, gratitude and the power of positive thinking.

It was a joyful experience with dance, singing, meaningful reflections, fun activities, and reminders of how God's love is present in our lives and in each other.

Diocesan Cross Country - Coolah

Last Tuesday, 8 students travelled to Coolah to compete in the Diocesan Cross Country event. With perfect weather and plenty of energy, our runners hit the Golf Course ready to give it their best over the 2km and 3km events. Our students demonstrated excellent sportsmanship and support for their peers across the day.

A special shout-out goes to Isobel Keene, who ran her way into 25th place out of 88 competitors in the 8–9 Years girls category. An incredible achievement!

And of course, a massive thank you to our wonderful parents, Kristina, Alicia, and Kristy, who generously gave up their time to drive our students up to Coolah. We couldn’t have done it without you.
Well done to all of our runners! You have made us proud!

Visit from Seminarian Dai

Visit from Seminarian Dai Inspires Pupils to Reflect on Vocations.

Recently, we were delighted to welcome Seminarian Dai to our school. He spent time with our students, sharing his personal journey of faith and his decision to follow a vocation to the priesthood.

During his visit, Seminarian Dai spoke to the children about the meaning of a vocation, not just within religious life, but in how we are all called to serve others in different ways. He encouraged the children to think about their own gifts and how they might use them to make a difference in the world.

We thank Seminarian Dai for his time and for helping our students to explore the idea of vocation in such a meaningful and engaging way.

Pupil Free Day - Mathematics

While students enjoyed a well-deserved break on our recent pupil-free day, staff were hard at work engaging in professional learning focused on high-impact Mathematics teaching. The day was facilitated by Toni-Maree Charlton (CEDB - Educational Officer). The day was dedicated to exploring effective lessons and rich assessment strategies to enhance student understanding and engagement in Maths.

It was a valuable opportunity for our team to collaborate, share ideas, and deepen their practice, ensuring the best possible learning experiences for our students.

Annual School Improvement Surveys

The Annual School Improvement Survey will be distributed to parents and students in Year 5 & 6, on Thursday, 8th May.

These surveys enable all members of the school community to have a voice. The information provides data about how well St Columba’s Catholic School is operating, highlighting areas of strength and those that may need revision. Overall, the data collected from the surveys provides highly valuable information that directs the school's future planning for continual improvement.

I encourage all members of our school community to participate in the survey.

Yeoval Show 2025 - School Closed

Tuesday, 20th May is the show and a Public Holiday in town.
